Flash 7 tip: Transformation Point

I just accidentally ran across a shortcut while showing a coworker how to force an object to scale or rotate from the top left corner by moving the registration transformation point of the object using the free transform tool.
Flash: Free Transform Tool
Flash: Registration Point

And what I noticed was when I moved the registration point around on a shape (not a symbol) then if I ctrl+click on the registration transformation point it will snap back to the center. And if I moved the registration transformation point around on a symbol and I ctrl+click on the registration transformation point it will snap to the top left.

Maybe I missed that part in all the Flash books, but thought it was pretty cool :D

double-clicking anywhere on the shape does the same trick..

  2. Deborah Brancheau Says:

I think you are referring to the transformation point, not the registration point.

  3. Talkinggoat Says:

The picture shows a transformation point, not a registration point.

You both are correct, my apologies. I guess when I wrote this post (4 years ago) I was still used to the pre-Flash MX2004 methodology where the transformation point defaulted to the registration point. I have updated this 4 year old post for posterity. :)
