Flash Remoting – simplified

Flash Remoting seems to be one of the best kept secrets out there when it comes to getting data from your backend systems to the front end presentation layer. It seems like everyone's heard of it but not many seem to use it or know much about it. With all the attention surrounding Flex these days, Remoting seems to be slipping even further back in the list of options for data driven flash applications. I think what many forget however is that (from what I understand anyway) Flex uses the same Remoting calls for communication between front and back ends. Therefore as long as the player supports the calls, Flash Remoting isn't going anywhere.

Now I will say that I think the documentation and publicity from Macromedia surrounding the use of Remoting is severely lacking which may be a major cause for the lack of knowledge and interest with using Flash Remoting. Which is why we have to be very thankful for people like Laura over at AS Fusion, who has posted a great article about Flash Remoting. She does a great job explaining Remoting in very easy to understand terms, and even hints to a part two to the post. Anyone interested in dynamic data in your Flash applications or websites should take a moment and read this article.
