Ready to get into ActionScript 3 coding? Or maybe you just want to see what’s in store for coding for the Flash 9 player? Check out this nice table of differences between ActionScript 2 and ActionScript 3. What a great way to get the people who use your product excited about the next release (not like most Flash designers/developers ever needed much of a push anyway). Adobe releasing a way to start using the benefits of the new player without having to build a Flex app to do so is genius. Granted [...]

Its official, Adobe will be having the MAX 2006 conference this year at The Venetian in Las Vegas on October 23-26, 2006. http://www.adobe.com/events/max/Â I went last year in LA and had a blast, such an awesome conference. A few weeks ago I wrote a small rant about Defending Flash… basically commenting on my frustration at the blatant ignorance surrounding the most recent technology chest beating with regards to AJAX, Flash, Flex, [insert RIA technology flavor here]. Well I thought I did a pretty good job of venting some frustration, but I must [...]

Darron Schall has posted a nice article about using OpenAMF to connect a Flex client to a Tomcat server. Harley Davidson has launched their “Genuine Motor Accessories Customizer” app built in Flex. I can only assume this is another top notch creation by the folks at Whittman Hart as they are the creators of the Harley Davidson web site, as well as the Ride Planner application which helps riders plan their road trip, and [...]

Okay so there’s a ton of information out there on the web that’s free and valuable resources for people learning Flash (Actionscripts.org, Ultrashock, Macromedia Dev Net, FlashKit etc…), all offering very good info. Flash Extensions, however… “provide high quality video tutorials regarding Flash and other related technologies. The content is aimed to help those starting [...]

According to News.com, “Macromedia is expected to announce the latest version of its signature Flash software Aug. 8, or 8/8, and release the software a few weeks later, said a source familiar with the company’s plans.” Although I can’t wait to get my hands on all the update, I’ll be watching to see what happens [...]

Do you use Flash files to access data on different domains? Do you get a warning dialog box when playing Flash Player 6 and older format .swf files that access different domain data? Does data loading fail in your Flash Player 7 format .swf files that access different domain data? If so you may want [...]
